Chasing the Light

Amazingly, I was 27 before the photographer in me was awoken. It wasn't until I returned to South Africa, the land of my birth and childhood, in 2001 that an undeniable feeling of connectedness to nature resurfaced. A visit to Galen Rowell's Mountain Light gallery in California a few months later opened my eyes to the kind of breathtaking imagery that could be translated to print from 35mm film. It was a defining moment.

Armed with that passion for the wildnerness, the unspoiled and the untamed and now the tools and instinct with which to record all that beauty, I haven't looked back since buying my first Nikon SLR and lenses. Nature and landscapes remain my passion but I have since branched out into event, cityscape and people photography giving me valuable diversity.
